William McKenzie
aka Captain Redfish Wild Bill
Captain Redfish Wild Bill is a licensed United States Coast Guard captain who makes fishing and life on the water his full time career. CPR and Wilderness First Aid certified, customers can rest assured that they are in good hands.
Captain Bill was ‘spawned’ in the foothills of North Carolina where his passion for fishing took place. He grew up bass fishing on his Grandfather’s farm till the age of 12 then moved to South Florida where the obsession grew. After landing his first Tarpon at the age of 13, he was in it to win it.
After his high school years Captain Bill moved to the mountains of Western North Carolina to pursue a major in Outdoor Education and Wilderness Leadership. In between classes he guided Fly Fishing trips chasing Brook, Brown and Rainbow Trout. Several years after college, Captain Bill headed to the Charleston area to pursue his love of inshore saltwater fishing, opening his own business in 2015, Tight Line Outfitters, based out of Folly Beach.
Captain Bill is a new breed of captain. This is no side hustle for him, but a full time passion and career. Not only does his well rounded fishing background set him apart, but also his focus on environmental education and conservation.
Miss May
Our boat, the Miss May, is a comfortable 22-foot Sea Hunt BX Pro Bay vessel equipped with a Yamaha 250 engine, Minnkota trolling motor, and a 12-foot Minnkota Talon shallow water anchor system. This setup puts the clients on the fish faster and with greater precision. A fast and smooth riding boat, the Miss May will allow our anglers to comfortably tackle most conditions in search of all species, whether it be inshore or at near shore reefs. With ample casting room in both bow and stern, Tight Line Outfitters can accommodate anglers comfortably and safely. And safety is always our focus.
The Miss May has ample room for gear storage and personal belongings. An on deck cooler will accommodate cold beverages and snacks. Water and ice is always provided for your Folly Beach fishing charters and other excursions.

The converging waterways in the Charleston, Folly Beach, and Kiawah area provide a rich ecosystem where the fish thrive, making for one of the top inshore fishing destinations on the East Coast. Inshore species you'll be targeting include red drum, black drum, spotted sea trout, flounder, ladyfish, and when the conditions are right, trophy bull reds. Away from the Charleston beaches, just off the coast, you'll find shipwrecks, artificial reefs, and other structures that create an exceptional habitat for catching black drum and redfish along with other trophy species to include amberjack, false albacore, cobia, spanish mackerel, and spade fish. CANCELLATION POLICY
We are a small, family business and cancellations affect us greatly. Therefore, we will always uphold our policies regardless of circumstance. All guests are charged 50% of total charter price upon booking in order to reserve your requested date and time. Cancellation requests 7 days or more prior to charter date will receive a full refund. Cancellations 6 days or less from charter date incur a 50% cancellation fee. Cancellations less than 48 hours prior to charter date as well as no-shows are non-refundable.
For all near shore bookings: if the ocean is too rough for safe or comfortable fishing on the day of the trip, the booking becomes an inshore fishing trip for the same designated time.
WEATHER CANCELLATIONS
Weather cancellations are at the discretion of the captain only. We will try to reschedule for an alternative day and time. Deposits will be refunded if weather forces the cancellation of a trip.

Tight Line Outfitters is Charleston, Folly Beach and Kiawah, South Carolina’s premier guided fishing company. Trips depart from the Folly Beach Public Boat Landing, but trips can also be coordinated from Kiawah Island.
